I have a 2006 Sportsman 800 with dual exhaust.

Is there any decent power to had from opening up the stock exhaust? I don't think I'm willing to pay $300+ for an exhaust right now. My brother took me in a drag race with his Kingquad 750xi and I want to revenge my loss! Granted, my ATV weighs 100 lbs more then his (I know I would win a tug-of-war) :^)

I'm surprised a Kingquad would smoke you? I have heard a few good things about Suzuki, speed not being one of them....

who cares if he beat you in a drag race, how often do you drag in the mountians, as to opening up the exhaust it makes a huge differnce but you wont notice it in a stright line race, I have an 08 800 with the mudslinger exhaust and 5 other buddies of mine have the same quad but stock exhaust off the line really no differnce but in the sticky mud diefinetly a huge differnce in rpms and overall performance. The biggest place I noticed it was on the steep hill climbs the quad ran better and barly lugged at all I let my best friend ride mine for an hour and I rode his and as soon as I got on his I noticed the differnce in the hills and the mud. But off the line didnt seem too differnt. As anything restriction is a down fall, if flow through was not important race cars would have 70db exhausts.
The more flow the more power.

The previous owner of my quad drilled 8 7/16th inch holes at the very end of the muffler. My muffler exits towards the very bottom and the holes are facing straight out the back side. I can't commit about any additional power but it sure was alot louder and almost no exhaust was coming out of the factory's mufflers exit.

i had to drill and tap the holes and insert 7/16th inch bolts to repair the muffler.

You wouldn't be one of those Yahoo's that are quickly giving the sport at bad name would U? I didn't think so...

Thanks for the replies. BTW my brother didn't smoke me, he just pulled a length or two on me (on two separate races). Yes, I know these machines aren't sport ATV's but I figured getting that extra little edge would be fun the next time we line them up. I certainly like the ride quality, 4-wheel drive system, storage, pulling power, toughness, etc. of my Sportsman over the KingQuad.

I do have a Healclicker from my 500 but the clutch seemed good on the 2006 800's so I didn't think it would make a big difference. Thoughts?

I think the newer 800 HO would smoke him, his is the newer Suzk750 though...

check with the QuadSquad for 800 mods, timing key clutching etc.
you wont find an exhaust for $300, Aaen, HSP and others sell a true dual.

a true dual actually reduces power it has been proven unless you play with the engine parameters
