News EFI ATV's on the horizon?
Posted by CanadianViking on Thursday, August 14, 2003 (14:06:59) (718 reads)

There’s more industry scuttle surfacing on the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) front.  Arctic Cat opened discussion industry wide about six months ago when they announced work was underway on an ATV EFI system.  Will Cat be the first OEM to land a fuel injection equipped four wheeler?

So far, only the now defunct Cannondale has mass produced an ATV with EFI.
We suspect Polaris could have an EFI system on their hugely popular Sportsman 700 twin - almost over night.
The 700 Sportsman even firing twin mill is based heavily on the 780cc Indy Frontier snowmobile engine which is already EFI equipped.
In fact, we think it might be time for Polaris to introduce a limited edition 800 Sportsman with EFI using the 780 mill.

News Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Meeting in Anchorage
Posted by Weasel on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 (17:28:54) (796 reads)

On July 9th the CPSC held an ATV Safety meeting in Anchorage, Alaska. I was fortunate enough to attend and testify (with other ATV Supporters) in front of our Lt. Governor (Leman) and the CPSC chairman Hal Stratton.

What became clear from the very start of this is that it isn't a banning type attack on ATV's at this point. What however should concern ATV'ers is that CPSC is being used by special interest groups (ANTI - ATV's) to conduct inquiries that in all honesty are NOT supported by statistical data for the most part and are nothing more than ungrounded attacks on ATV's. Here is why I believe this to be true.
