GPS Basics
Posted by CanadianViking on Friday, July 21, 2006 (20:23:40) (1099 reads)
ATV@Off-Road.com has posted an article on GPS basics:
The Global Positioning System was invented by the U.S. Department of Defense and Ivan Gelling using eighteen satellites together with their ground stations primarily as a navigational tool to calculate geographical locations. The satellites are geostationary, or geosynchronous, meaning that they revolve at the same rate as the earth rotates, so they always stay above the same place on the earth’s surface.

Riding in Ontario, Canada & the Sportsmans Lodge
Posted by CanadianViking on Friday, July 21, 2006 (20:23:09) (1335 reads)
ATV Illustrated Magazine has posted an excellent article on riding in Ontario, Canada and at the famous "Sportsmans Lodge":
The search for good riding in Canada was neither long nor difficult. Unlike most of the states’ tourism agencies, every single one of Canada’s provincial governments heavily promotes ATV tourism via numerous publications. Kudos to Canada for its progressive approach to this fast-growing sport.
We decided to travel to the province of Ontario due mainly to its proximity to the northeast U.S., the appealing rugged wilderness of the northern area of the pronvince and its atmosphere of isolation and solitude. Solitude is priceless.
