Accessories Gorilla Winch 3000lb Pro-Series Review - Part two
Posted by CanadianViking on Sunday, July 22, 2007 (15:00:49) (803 reads)

Lewy has submitted part 2 of our review of the Gorilla brand 3000lb Pro-Series winch:

I have been using the Gorilla 3000lb Pro-Series winch for several months now and wanted to share one of my experiences using the winch in a practical (if unusual) application. This application really tested the limits of the Pro-Series winch. The Past Memorial Day weekend has allowed me an opportunity to put the Pro Series Waterproof 3000lb. winch mounted to my Polaris SP500 to test. My property in the Ozarks of Missouri has a meandering creek that after a spring flood leaves snags, sometimes whole trees embedded into the gravel banks of the creek. One particular Sycamore tree had become a nuisance. The location of this snag blocked an established crossing of the creek bank. This tree still had the root ball intact. A portion of this six foot diameter root system had become buried into the gravel bank leaving the forty foot plus trunk of the tree to block the crossing. If I wanted to test the capabilities of the Gorilla winch, this was a great opportunity! I decided to put the Gorilla to work...

Accessories Review of Copperhead ECU for KingQuad700 and AC700
Posted by MeYammy on Sunday, July 15, 2007 (17:58:59) (1268 reads)

Review of Copperhead Engine Control Unit (ECU) for Suzuki King Quad 700 from Velocity Devices Inc of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Backgrounder.
As an owner of a 2006 Suzuki King Quad 700 with a K & N air filter, Carlisle ACT X/LR 6 ply radial all conditions tires, quad boxes front and rear, front winch, and rear Highlifter springs, there are certain features of my quad that I think are second to none. That’s pride of ownership coming through I’m sure. Having said that, there are certain things about the quad that I would like to see changed, or at least things that I would like to have the ability to change or modify (mods, a word synonymous with owning quads and other power sport ‘toys’). Although the engine, single cylinder 695 cc fuel injected unit is quite powerful, and the top end speed of this quad is simple too darn fast for sane people to want to ride at on 4 or 5 psi tires, there is an annoying “lag” from a standstill, a low end “detune” engineered by Suzuki intentionally. This is one of the safety features that has been engineered into this quad to essentially harness and control the huge amount of power potential that the engine has. Why would they do this? To keep the front end down, to prevent the front end from coming up and over when hill climbing, presumably, if someone, especially an inexperienced rider, were to use too much throttle in that situation.

Accessories Maxxis Bighorn Tire w/ITP SS108 Wheel Review
Posted by CanadianViking on Thursday, March 29, 2007 (11:48:30) (1907 reads)

2FAST4U has submitted a review of Maxxis Bighorn tires mounted on ITP SS108 wheels:

Just picked these tires and wheels up for our 06 Rhino 660...We have been running the Bighorns for several years now and its our tire of choice for any type of riding unless you are going to the mud and staying in the mud....They have a great ride, they respond like a tire should and they wear extremely well....The new SS108 wheels look great...the front wheels are 14x6 and the rear wheels are 14x8. Its about time they make this adjustment. ...Ground clearance on the front is 11 1/4 inches and rear is 13 1/4 inches with the tire and wheel kit installed....As soon as we took off we could tell that we were not on stock tires any more. The Rhino still had a smooth ride but when you turned the wheel any you could tell that the machine felt much tighter and had way more response that the factory rubber. I couldn't tell any power loss going to these tires...Our family has logged well over 6000 combined miles on several sets of the Bighorns and we have never had a tire failure....I would definitely recommend the 14" Bighorns over the 12" Bighorns.

Accessories Gorilla Axle's Yamaha 660 Rear Driveshaft Upgrade Review
Posted by Weasel on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 (07:30:48) (1213 reads)

Silvertipgrizz has submitted a review of the Gorilla Axle rear driveshaft mounted on his Yamaha Grizzly 660:

I bought my Grizzly 660 in June of 2002 and like most I immediately began the process of modifying the quad for more power. I clutched it with a clutch kit from EPI, an aftermarket high performance pipe from HMF, and a jet kit from Dyno-jet. I eventually decided to big-bore the motor with a piston from JE, and a cam from Hot-Cams. I also wanted more ground clearance so I installed a lift kit from High Lifter along with large 29.5 Outlaws. With all these mods the performance of it increased substantially. However the trade off for this added performance and power is that it takes its toll on the drivetrain.

I found this out the hard way after being out on a ride and snapped my oem rear driveshaft...
