I have a rather Petite wife, I'm thinking bout tradin in our oldest machine for a machine with power steering. Has anyone done this for their wife? And is the power steering going to improve the experience for her?

The wifes biggest complaint after trail riding is her shoulders. Just curious if you guys have run into this before. As you can see in the photo below, there are times when she has trouble wrestling the ruts.

My next bike for sure will have power stearing and I don't think this is limited to "the wife" I know guys that wouldn't go riding unless they had power steering. Once you have it, you will never go back to a bike without it. Everytime I get on my bike I wish I could afford to get a new one with EPS. Get the grizzly...it is a smooth and very cushy ride!

The primary function of my King Quad is a land survey machine, and I do 90% one handed riding, while my other hand controls the GPS computer screen. I don't have EPS on mine, and really wish I did. After a day of riding 1 handed, its a real killer on the shoulders.

Next quad will have EPS.

Mudbob thinks EPS is best thing since sliced bread, and I really like bread.

Absolutely it will help her quadding experience! My wife is not overly experienced on quads but, she borrowed a 700 Grizzly w/eps and handled technical trails with no problem.

Well, I think thats what we will do. Had a look at the market to see what manufacturers are putting out, Can-am has definatley caught my attention with the "Dual Mode - Dynamic Power Steering".

Eusa Drool www.can-am.brp.com/en-...atures.htm

Thanks for the Input! My wife will be excited.

It looks like there are aftermarket rims and tires on that quad she's riding.
That will make it harder on her to steer, by quite a bit.
The offset of ITP rims, for instance, is greater than the stock rims, even though they claim it is 'stock' offset.
Steering axle wheels with greater offset run outside of the wheel bearing center (a theoretical vertical line drawn through the center of the tread face and how it relates to the two wheel bearing races)
and this makes the tire and wheel transmit any shock they get from hitting something, into amplified jerking of the handlebars.

Same with bigger size tires. More handlebar feedback and more effort to steer. Stock rims and stock tire sizes would make it a whole lot easier on her.
A steering stabilizer would also help enormously. Those have hydraulic valves that resist the hard shocks of sudden steering input you get from the front wheels hitting things but allow the much slower steering inputs that a rider inputs to the quad, to be applied without resistance.

Then they definitely should stay home, and have something nice cooked up for dinner by the time you get home. And I don't want to see any dust balls under the furniture. Yellow-badgrin

Actually no, it's all stock. Factory steel wheels, and the totally functional yet unimpressive tires that all popo's have - out of factory.
I would love to get two EPS rigs, but President Obama did not approve my request for a bail-out. Yellow-smile

Popos always did come with real tires, I'll grant them that. Not like the wheelbarrow tires you get on a new Japanese ATV.
Two EPS rigs would be cool... but if you can't swing that then a steering damper (stabilizer) would help her out a lot.
It would still be just as hard to horse on the bars to steer around things, but it would save her from a lot of the hard feedback jarring when the front tires bounce off things.

I have EPS of a quad with tracks. A 2 hr ride was like going 12 rounds with Mike Tyson before. Now I can ride all day with my bad shoulders & I'm 69 yrs. Yellow-biggrin

Those tracks would make for some SORE arms! How is the EPS holding up to the tracks (in the long run)???

All that extra resistance would have to be hard on the EPS, right?

Seems to be a sensor that detects resistance between input on the handlebars and resistance on tires/tracks. If the resistance to turning is too high, the EPS disengages. Good feature. EPS also gets less sensitive at higher speeds.

EPS has been great in every respect and should be considered a "Must have" option for smaller riders on the larger machines.
