I am installing an OEM Polaris EBS kit on a 2005 SP 400. When installing the new secondary clutch do I install the shims that were behind the old secondary clutch. Also I have read some posts where I should be changing the weights due to a difference in performance. Is there any truth to this>
thanks

I wouldnt think so its a stock replacement right?
There should be recomendations if so, you could check specs for each in serv manual, spring ratings etc. The dealer selling it to you should know.

as far as i remember that ebs ubdate kit tells you just to change the primary spring for the 400 the kit is for the 500 & 400.as for the secondary shim i would use the same shim & check your clutch alignment with the tool the shims move the alignment in or out & the mounts tilt it.

yep, I forgot I would use the same shims as originally set up and go from there.
Skiboat, the trans shaft is tilted right? What are you refering to as "mounts" ??

yes i was just saying if the tilt angle is not right you have to move the mount adjustment.but make sure center of primary to secondary stays 10in.ussually all you will have to adjust is the shims but like jimmy said you should be ok with the same amount of shims

There is a section in the FAQ about how to shim the rear pulley for proper belt centering on the front pulley.
