Here are some pictures of the 10 pt buck I harvested Monday morning 11-9-2009.

18 yard broadside shot, Nugent Blade broadhead (2 blade) delivered approximately 9:15 am via Browning Striker single cam.

I guess persistence pays off with lots of luck too, although I like to think I take the right steps to assure I wont blow it when the opportunity is presented like staying scent free and being able to make the shot etc...

God blessed me with the opportunity, he must have thought I put in my time after 20 yrs of Bowhunting. Smile

Jim

Congrats Jim. My luck this year hasn't been much to get brag about. Doctor tells me I'll be getting over this H1N1 by the weekend . Couple more tags yet and the freezer is lookin a little bare.

I hope you make a speedy recovery and are back out in the woods soon.

Thanks a lot for the kind words guys...it could have been a little wider Roll Eyes Happy but I am very happy and feel blessed to have the opportunity to take this buck.

It truly is a once in a lifetime thing but you never know. Smile

I did see one about the same size 7-8 yrs ago but didn’t get a shot and let it walk (it was strait on at about 8 yards, turned and walked strait away from me, I was hunting with a bow).

I have passed on many yearling and smaller bucks over the years hoping to see more mature bucks and I feel it finally paid off. Just lucky it came out into the open and provided me a good shot!

Thanks again.

Jim

Yep, same here but the rut is when they make mistakes and come out during the day etc...

I just got word from my Taxidermist today (whom is a SCI Official Scorer) that my 10 pt Typical buck green scored (unofficially) at 133 7/8 and may be eligible for the P&Y record books. It has a 13 3/8 inside spread and is estimated at 3 ½ years old. I’m going to look into getting it officially scored by P&Y and Commemorative Bucks of Michigan after the drying period.

I still can't believe it!!! icon_pelvic_thrust2 Yellow-biggrin

Nice deer but that's not a 10 pt, that is only a 4 point around here.

How do you figure it has at least 5 pts on each side, may well be concidered a 12 pt in some places. (10 pt is refering to the top pictures not the mounted 7 pt)

I am just having some fun Jim, nice deer regardless.

Here some count the brow tine and others don't. I got pretty much the same deer as this one last year, might have been a little wider but it scored 135.
