Hi all,

I am based in Cyprus, its quite sunny here, no rain, so ATV is great!
Two questions from a newbie in ATVs.

1) I am a casual user, not really into the extreme end but I was wondering if the extra price that the big names ask for are really worth it?

2) I really like the Linhai 300, is there anything I should be aware of? should I worry since its not a big name?

If this is your first ATV it would probably be a good machine to learn how to ride, break, flip, crash, repair, etc..If you decide to stick with the sport after the "learning curve" in the long run it would be a good idea to invest in a better brand machine with better reliability and more power. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend as well. Besides, the engine in this ATV is essentially a Yamaha. Check out this link...

Good luck

Mate, You are better off to buy new cheap than second hand cheap.
Many of the "brand names" are over priced and over rated.
All the manufacturers have duds. It is how well a individual dealer helps you that is important. Deals on sale are different to problems and solutions.
And many forum contributers would rather blame a manufacturer for problems rather than except any responsibility for "operator error."
Made in China or Taiwan is not all bad. Real conensus is that for recreational riding, they're Ok. Nots so flash on the racing/competitive side of things.
Regardless of brand, a good product sold and backed by a good dealer and ridden and maintained by a good rider = enjoyment and satisfaction.

Go with your heart and wallet.....

Thank you both for the useful advice.

Another issue, in Cyprus ATVs are overpriced, about 40% than mainland Europe.
So, if I bought the Linhai, I am considering getting it from mainland which means I will be away from the dealer.
BTW Cyprus is an island.

Thank you,

Franky

A few points about warranty

(1) A new bikes warranty is from the manufacturer. Any authourised dealer is obliged to honour the manufactures warranty, regardless of place of purchase.

(2) Warranties are quite often conditional. These conditions are very often linked to authorised servicing and use of "genuine" and approved parts.

(3) I know that Cypruss is an island, but I do not know if is regarded as a seperate state from the mainland. If is a seperate state there may be additional taxes and duties. These taxes and duties may be represented in that 40% you mentioned.

(4) What a dealer may or may not do for you has no relationship with law or justice.

Thank you for the feedback.

The taxes apply only if the engine is over 700cc so this one is not in the taxable category and actually the VAT (sales tax) in Cyprus is lower, so effectively the price should have been lower!!

I know what you mean by the warranty but the fact is that unless its the dealer you bought from, then they do not look at you as they do not really care and you can't do much about it.

To be honest, I will probably go for it and will find out Smile the savings are big enough.
