Ok all,
In your humble opinions ...... which is the best and easiest to use GPS on the market for quading. I want the ablility to download map and it will primarily be used to keep track of where I am and how to find my way back to the truck ....
Thanks

I have a Delorme PN20 along with topo 7 software. It is easy to use and you have ability to load satalite photos(maps) to it. PN20 is a model on its way out because DElorme has a PN40 and I believe is coming out with a PN30. Whatever you choose most all GPS are pretty good these days.

I have a Garmin eTrex series (Vista CX) - color screen, water proof, MicroSD card loaded with Topo Canada AND Ghost FLUZ AND Kananaskis FLUZ that are routable!!! When out on the trails, I point on the screen which trail I want to go to, and the GPS will tell me which trail to turn on, how far, etc....
Great little unit and with the Ram mount, it holds on right next to my speedo...

I have been using a GPS for the past 10 yrs, different brands, types and quality (used them for my job) I bought myself the Garmin 60Csx in July. It is easy to use and has everything you need on it for use in the city or on your quad. They are easy to load and download with mapsource (which comes with the GPS) and it is small. The only downfall...it's not cheap...almost $400 and that does not include the DC adaptor or handlebar mount. With everything including GST I spent around $450. The 76Csx is $100 cheaper but bigger and bulkier..IMO.

Best?
Get a Garmin Oregon 300 or Colorado 300. Run them on external power on the quad as the backlight is very bright in that fashion. Load up the free Ibycus maps and the Southern Alberta Trail Maps. Purchase at GPSCity.
The other choice is one of the "motorcycle" units, but they are very spendy.
Delorme is useless in Canada, no maps.
If you don't really want "best".... The best bang for the buck would be the Garmin eTrex Legend HCX.

I use a Garmin Rhino 120, I like the radio and polling features of the Rhino models. I also recommend RAM mounts for your GPS.

A few years ago when I registered on DeLorme's website, I entered my email addy to receive there spam mail. Back in July this year I read one and couldn't pass on the deal. $150 USD off the PN-40 SE, needless to say I bought it in a power pack bundle, plus the ATV mount still saving mega bucks.
Yes it includes the TOPO 8.0 Mexico & Canada maps, the SE also has more internal memory.
You can get the base PN-40 from Walmart or similar stores for less then average list. The only one I seen with the SE edition was direct from DeLorme.
I had 2 prior Magellan's a 330X, and Explorist 400, they don't even come close to this PN-40. Very easy uploading to the PC, and from the mapping DVD's to the GPS.
As I moved to the side of a trail in Colorado to let some Jeeps go bye (coming from other direction), 1 stopped and complemented me on my choice for a GPS. The PN-40 Bright Orange kind of sticks out, he had the Yellow PN-20.
I look at it this way, it was a small fortune, but very easy to use, plus it has better mapping then the magellan's ever did.
Magellan's you needed a College and Doctorate degree to upload your tracks/waypoints to the PC, or back to the GPS.

I have several Garmin's (4), first one dates back to about 1992. We used them on our survey crews for recon on our GPS projects Most reliable and easy to use GPS IMO.
Tip-Avoid Magellan. I bought one 1 yr ago on the advice of my nephew but regret it now. Its nothing by a pita. Locks up (screen freezes)for no reason, their support is non-existent. Its touch-screen which IMO is useless on an ATV. Rain drops falling on it can change the screen. You can't wipe the dust off it etc.
I never had a problem Garmin and I dropped them, sat on them, stepped on them.
I have a small Delorme that came with Topo USA just for use with a laptop pc.

you should definitely go with Garmin .. they are very user friendly and dependable, waterproof and take a beating and don't mind MUD and you wont regret buying a garmin I have an Garmin etrex legend HCx with topo Canada loaded on it and it does more than all i want with ATVing and my PC , Plus Garmin is the most popular GPS out there so it will be alot easier trading tracks with other ATVers.

I should state that the Dakota 10 is one of GARMIN's newest GPS systems.

Rino model geat for quading built in radio you can download maps. I have two 120s the radio part is a little under powered but I believe they make 5 watt model. I bought mine on ebay from the U.S. two for the price of one. Here's my reasoning for buying two you can leave one and a map of the area you are riding at home with someone and take the other one with you. If for any reason you don't make it home the first gps and map can be given to search and rescue and with the polling feature it could help them find you faster. A word of caution though don't be in a drinking establishment when they find you.
