Canada Renegade XC $14,599

USA Renegade XC $12,199

Even at today exchange rate on the dollar it should only cost $13,371.32 Canadian dollars based on the USA price.

Why are Canadians beings screwed out of over $1,200 more dollars by a Canadian company?

Why does Can Am charge so much? Because they can, thats why. Buy a Yamaha next time, which is what I think I'll do.

I think all the others do the same thing as far are getting a higher price from Canadian sales.

700 grizzly SE is what $12,399 plus, winch, warranty, bumpers, tires, rims
2010 800r xt with power steering $12,899 3 year warranty and all the goodies
I don't see the Yamaha being any cheaper. You get a lot more atv with can-am than Yamaha in the price and goodies. Lastly the grizzly looks like something an old man would drive with the big harly handle bars.

This isn't a grade school "my quad is better then yours" conversation.

We are talking about how Canadians are getting screwed on big ticket items.

Look at any of them, any brand and compare US price against Canadian price after figuring the currency exchange rate and adjusting for it.

Cars, Trucks, Quads, Street bikes, Watercraft, the list goes on and on.

Its not right and seems like if it is the set MSRP then the manufactures are the ones screwing you guys.

It is simple........even for us preschooler. They charge what the market will bear. Canadians are wiling to pay more for these products so companies charge more. We all started to buy ATV's and stuff from the US 1 year ago and WOW prices dropped in Canada. My point above was that Can-Am's are more in cost when comparing sticker prices, but when you look at what you get and then add it on to the competition they are all in the ball park.

Actually when you think about it , it's much more than 1200$. Considering that the can-ams are made here (and getting a huge Govt insentive to keep it here) and are sold much cheaper in the US.

Even when the dollar was equal or 15 cents higher than the US green back (for a significant time period) The price in the US was still at minimum 2000$ less.

Why else would BRP send threatening letters of warning to US dealers not to sell to Canadians.

It's also dependent on region. My pickup was 3700$ less 400 miles south of here. Not to mention that my pickup was 11000$ to expensive compared to now. That includes dealing with a dozen local delaers (wide sampling).

Suzuki KQ 750 , and can-am 650 max XT are 1500-2200$ cheaper 45 minutes south of here.

18600$ + taxes for a smaller 620 cub cadet volunteer UTV 40 min east of here.

30 minutes south of here. 13500$ + taxes for a 854cc diesel volunteer, with the same options.

What annoys me the most is that fact that the vehicles have to come though here to get to the those dealers a few minutes drive south of here.

Makes one think " like WT......!?"

no one ever pays full price for atvs anyways. My dad bought a new outlander 500 max xt for less than a grizzly 550 with ps. Out the door the price was 900 bucks less for the can am than the yamaha and lets not forget the price was no where near 12000 bucks. it all depends on where you deal and the volume that they move which will effect the overall bottom line price that you pay. just my two cents

They have been building them in Mexico for a while now.

That's funny, considering that i was on a call at the can-am factory in valcourt last week.

They had a bunch being assembled.

Perhaps mierly an assembly line though.

Maybe they are putting together the Spyder.

Read this> LINK
Valcourt, Québec, Canada, November 2, 2005 - Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) has informed its employees in Valcourt, Québec, Gunskirchen, Austria and in Juarez, Mexico, that it will transfer the vehicle assembly and the engine manufacturing operations of its all-terrain vehicles (ATV) to Mexico.

The external pressures brought on by a strong Canadian dollar and Asian competition compelled the Company to turn to a low-cost country to increase profitability. This decision calls for a $30 million investment over the next three years.

''BRP is committed to the ATV business and to maintaining a solid value proposition for our dealer network," said José Boisjoli, President and CEO, BRP. "Our goal is to continue manufacturing while increasing profitability and becoming more competitive. We looked at various scenarios and transferring our operations to Mexico just made more sense,'' he concluded.

BRP-Rotax, which manufactures the engines powering BRP's recreational vehicles, will establish a facility in Mexico to build ATV engines, constituting BRP-Rotax's first investment outside Austria in 85 years.

This decision will have no impact on BRP's workforce in 2005 nor in 2006. However, BRP expects that approximately 150 jobs will be lost in Valcourt at the end of 2007 and another 150 in 2008. There will be little to no impact on Austria's headcount because of BRP-Rotax's growing external business.

* ATV vehicles to be assembled in Mexico
* BRP-Rotax to manufacture ATV engines in Mexico
* Ski-Doo snowmobiles and Sea-Doo watercraft to remain in Valcourt

Ski-Doo® snowmobiles and Sea-Doo® watercraft manufacturing operations will remain in Valcourt as BRP is completing a $10 million investment to revamp its assembly line to gain efficiency and increase flexibility.
