Paula and Iwill be pulling into Taylor Park to occupy cabin 1 from July 21 through July 30th this year. looks like we will be riding the same quads as last year. Paula on the 08 500 T and I will be nursing along the 05 500 HO.

I hope to get a new set of tires on the HO for this years trip. The HO will probably need some new CV boots also, as I havn't changed out the used CV boot I replaced the torn one with last year. Oh well it's time to get ready for this years trip. We hope to visit a few friends high on top of the mountains.

And take a few of the Colorado "dirt roads" through the "open country"
Taylor Pass road (Larry)

Williams Pass road (John W. )

Alright, now we are talkin! Foneman and My self met up with a couple of KC guys that we know through our local club site and discussed this trip. There should be 5 of us but a sixth is still on the fence.
Lewy, we plan on driving out friday (the 24th) after work and arriving saturday morining(25th) and spending the morning/day setting up our tent camp in Union Park. We will be packing up Sunday the 2nd and heading east. Can't wait to get there.
We are going to get together around the end of may and ride so some of the guys can get an idea of how to pack our gear and load up in the trucks and trailers.

I'm headed there near or at the end of the riding season. Day after check out hunting season starts. I have a nephew that might come along, but the closer the depart day gets, it's looking more and more like it's going to be a solo trip, unless he's planning on renting a ATV.
As for getting ready, I got the rear tires within Co. specs right at the 50 inch wide mark. Have a new toy for some good trail clips. I got 1 of those VIO POV cameras, also stocked up on 8GB flash cards from New Egg. I re-routed the bungee straps holding my rear box on, so they won't interfere with the gas packs that attach to it. I think I'll need them this year as the V Twin uses more gas then the Rinny did.
I'm thinking on adding a solar battery tender to the rear box lid, to help keep the battery at it's peak (as mentioned in other CanAm threads).
I do want to get a cheap electric coffee maker, '07's cabin had 1, '08's had a percolator and took a few pots to get it right. I also plan on getting more heater meals. Great for a quick hot trail side meal.
I received my 2010 non resident OHV permit, and it's already on the ATV, added the transparent film over it to keep it on the ATV when I hit it with the hose.

I hope to see ya out there this year Lewy but I am not sure if Ime gona make it or not. If we do go to Taylor as well this year it will most likely be earlier in the month depending on how much snow they got this year. I dont realy wana go much earlier then the week you are suposed to get there but who knows. I have August 6-14 off to go to Utah so if I go to Taylor that would mean only a week and a half between trips and I dont know if the boss will go for that. Seeing that pic from your cabin realy makes me miss the place though.

That's sure alot of fancy sounding video equipment to pack around Kenny. I expect to see some profound footage of wildlife from your trip. One of these years I plan to head out to Taylor during the fall. The weather may be worse but the colors are awsome. I might see more Elk and possibly Moose a little later in the year.
Let me know how you like Utah Brandon, that's another place I have on my list of must do's. Maybe one of these years when I tire of Taylor park area I will venture a little further west. I am thinking this year paula and I may try Independence Pass instead of Redcone before coming to Taylor. We sure did enjoy Redcone last year, and there is more to see of that area. It's a tough decision. It's a shame we all have to choose what we want to devote our precious few days of time off carefully, knowing we can't just see/do everything.
Redcone Peak the colors of the rock that make up this slope is surreal, this picture just does not do it justice.
One of these years, I just hope the years don't run out.
Hope to see Redbull and Foneman the end of May, and meet the new fellas that are coming out to Taylor this year.

Here's a link to ATV Utah, the cheapest place I found that sells the POV camera. I don't have the 1.5, but the 1.3. My camera is the wide angle but black, also has the upgraded software to run the 8-gb flash cards.
I can shoot up to 6 hours in the high quality setting, or over 30 hours in the low setting, this time is on 1 8-gb card, I have 6 - 8's and 2 - 4's.
High setting
Medium setting Clips have sound, don't know why it didn't upload to photobucket.
I tried holding onto my movie camera on the East side of Tin Cup Pass, but it was a bit shaky even with the image stabilization. This new camera will give me the footage I'm after, and will give the ones back home here an idea of what it's like going up to Antero, riding and coming out of the Taylor creek/river up to the pass. Tomichi and Old Cumberland I'm planning to do.
Anybody looking at getting this camera go to New Egg, they have memory with FREE shipping cheaper then Walmart.

I have been trying to sell the 05 HO since last year. I guess I am not trying hard enough.
The good deals down at Abernathy's for this years models won't happen until after the debut of the 2010's. If I get a 09 it probably won't be until this fall's sell-off. Another thing that could change my mind is what Polaris may be offering in the 010 line-up.
Probably will just throw on a new set of tires the the HO and ride it.

Brandon I just went through your write-up and viewed your pictures. Sounds like Utah supports a broader variety of wildlife. It looks like fun trailering around the tent and supplies, camping out each night, roughing it and all. I think for me and Paula a good days ride, shower, restaurant, and queen sized bed is just about roughing it enough.
Nice write-up and pictures!
