Hello all...my first post. I recently purchased a 2005 trail Buck 650EX with 2400miles and about 49 hours. There were a few things wrong so I got it for a good price. I am wondering If I can replace the rear output shaft oil seal and oring without having to teardown the transmission? Any help would be appreciated.

I would check with a Bombardier/Can-Am dealer.

I bought a fatory manual for the bike and the seal can be replaced without tearing the motor down. I tried to get the part from a local dealer but he had just sold the rear output seal. I ordered a new one from bike bandit along with a couple of other bearings and seals. Also order a new headlight for my Trail Buck, dealer wanter $35 and I go tit from Bike Bandit for $11. The OEM bulb is made by Speacker and when I emailed them asking for a repalcement this is what they sent back:

Speaker Item No. Description Name Customer Part Number
4831920 BULB, 35/35-12V Kawasaki Motors Mfg Corp 92069-0019
4831920 BULB, 35/35-12V Bobcat Co - Parts Div. 6691620
4831920 BULB, 35/35-12V Polaris Ind - Parts Dv 4011029
4831920 BULB, 35/35-12V Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. 715900020

I ordered the Kawi part number and it was only $11

I will post the results of my seal replacement!!

I received my parts yesterday and installed the new headlight. Exact copy of the bobmbardier light and 1/3 the price. The part number I ordered was 92069-0019 from bikebandit.com. Now onto the rear seal replacement and complete oil change.

Well I finally got the leak stopped. I ordered all of the neccassary wear parts froms Bike Bandit and sent them along with the bike to my local repair shop. They removed the rear swingarm and shaft. Replaced the double lip seal and put it back together. I was puzzled why the shop did not install the o-ring, spacer, wear ring and drive shaft bolt. When I asked they said that the were fine! sounded fishy but I drove it away. Next day we get a snowstorm and I plow the drive. Looked like an old Ford had been parked on the drive....oil everywhere. I called the shop and they explaned that it woul be more money to rip it all apart again to instal all of the parts that I wanted them to install in the first place. Anyway I found the problem. A $2 nut and bolt that holds the driveshaft to the output shaft. There are two sealing surfaces at the rear output end. One is the lip seal that runs on the wear ring of the drive shaft. The other in the o-ring that seals the internal diameter of the driveshaft to the outside diameter of the putput shaft. With no bolt installed the driveshaft was able to seperate from the output shaft allowing oil to leak out the splines. Once the retaining bolt was installed the leak stopped. Should I fight with the shop now for a partial refund?
