I have a Big Bear 400 or at least that what is says on the label. But when I went to the local dealership to get an airfilter they said thats not a Big Bear its Kodiak. It is a 2000, full time 4x4, Hi/low range, footshift, and the lights are close together lol. I will put a pic on if you want.

Same here. I don't recall a Kodiak ever being full time 4wd drive like my old Big Bear. Also, Kodiak always had the CTV, never the semi-auto trans with the footshift like the Big Bear.
Someone at the dealership sounds confused, IMO. You've got yourself a Big Bear there HondaCrazy.

Sounds like the old Kodiak 400.
(yes they did make a foot shifter Kodiak)
Look on the motor for the cc marking.
It should say 386cc
It should be on the cylinder.

Is this similar to your machine and yes the early kodiaks were extremely similar to the BB this is a 1999 Kodiak 400 but they changed the specs in 2000 to improve the model.

Looks like a big bear 400 professional.
It will share most parts with the 1999 on down Kodiak 400 and some of the 2000 on up bigbear parts.
And next to no parts with the 1999 on down Bigbear 350.
