Anyone replace the rear driveshaft U-joints on an Outlander 400?? I'm trying to find one from a car parts store, but I'm having little success.

Gypsy, I have changed mine out, I purchased OEM. I have seen somewhere here on the net that there is an aftermarket U-Joint. I'll see what I can find.

If your going thru U-joints & keep them greased, check for common out-of-phase driveshaft.

Also check that your grease does NOT contain a moly additive about 3%. There was a tread on AWF forum about this additive being bad for roller bearings which are inside of our u-joint. I guess it packs up and severly reduces the life according to some reports.

This stuff seems to be good.

Yeah, this is the first U-Joint ever, and I still cant find one aftermarket.. going to take the plunge and go to the dealer.. $56 ea! Poke Tounge I was quite religious about greasing them, but did not notice that the front one wasn't taking grease properly.. 2 of the caps were bone dry.

I did notice my driveshaft was slightly out of phase, but I dont have any abnormal vibrations.. so I'll keep the $200 and buy some gas with it!

Neapco part # 1-0121
Cost was about $22 ea.

They are a Metric PTO U-joint
Happy times! Smile
