Well according to brp they have upped the power by 9 percent on the newest version of the 800.
I wonder just what the changes were. If it is just a programing deal like with previous years we should be able to get our machines re flashed at the dealer to take advantage of the new programing. Anybody out there know just what those differences are?
Oh yeah and loving the new black plastic. My old green stuff is getting kinda tired looking anyway might be time for a change!

MUD:
As for the 9% more power.......well that is interesting.
From what I was told and felt it has more power, especially in the top end. As for what was exactly stated there is:
9% more power in the TOP END. A smoother torque ramp below 6K rpm's. This is why it feels slower from about 0 to 15mph, but in reality the 9% is in the higher rpm's....thus you are accelerating at a higher rate. I'll explain more of how they accomplished this in the review.
But, there isn't 9% more power THROUGHOUT.....at least in my understanding.
Oh, and the quad is still electronically governed at 74mph....which is unchanged.
One thing I keep getting PM's about though is what is the acceleration claim.
They've improved acceleration from 0-60 by 1 second. The 08's had an approx time of 7.2 second from 0-60.
The 09R is claimed to do this at a clip of 6.2 seconds. Now....before anyone asks.....did we do this. No. There wasn't the room to get it up to 60mph.
However....I would believe their claim and here is why. Compared to my 07's power out of the hole, the 08 is much, much more controllable. Not that it isn't as fast, but the initial burst is more progressive comes on and instead of like the 06-08's...the power doesn't back off just above mid range. This sucker keeps pulling (and there is your 9% increase showing up).
Anyhoo.....hope this helps and I am hurrying on the reviews

I originally did a print of it from the can-am site and then scanned it into my comouter, Outlandish on Aurora did the photo shop version for me. Its much clearer than the print and scan one I did.
As to the 9%, I had a feeing that by the way it was worded it was not ment to mean peak hp was up 9%. But what ever it is, the fact that its claimed to be 1 sec faster in 0-60 times, that is a huge gain IMO.
Looking forward to reading the reviews. Thanks for the clairification.
