Just a poll question on wheter or not you guys would eat Genetically Modified (GM) food.
As a farmer with access to GM technology, I was wondering what your opinions on the matter were.

I eat at McDonalds on occasion. Nothing more modified on the planet. As long as it tasted good it can't be worse than McD's.

As long as it contains calories to burn and nutrients I can't see what the trouble would be.

For a little clarity, by GM, I mean not just crossed with a different variety of the same plant, like a hybrid, but rather something with a trait added that is not usually found in the plant (such as resistance to a certain type of herbicide that would normally kill the plant).

I think that ship has already sailed.
I worked with parent seed corn round up ready plots years ago when I was in the custom application business.

Round up ready corn, soybeans, sugar beets, canola, cotton...it's all around us, and that's just the glyphosate resistant varieties. The Europeans have a burr up their buutts about this stuff yet science has yet to offer up one single shred of evidence that GM foods, or the media favorite term Frankenfoods, are harmfull in any shape or form to animals and humans or the environment as a whole.
GM food has been and continues to help ensure crops are healthy, high yielding, and resistant to being wiped out by natual pests, thus helping to ensure a more consistent food supply for a hungry world. Of course, GM varieties do nothing to combat hurricanes, floods, and severe droughts, which also impact our ability to produce a consistent food supply.

this video helps explain the battle between organic and modified foods.
It has changed my thinking. (It's also hilarious )

I get a kick out of the 'no genetically modified food' crowd who thinks that science hasn't 'proven' it is safe. Why???? Because around here, anyway, they are the same people who think that man-made global-warming IS 'proven'.
Just my opinion here, but I bet almost everyone here HAS eaten some form of genetically modified food, probably without knowing it.
Anyhing with soybeans, soy oil, corn oil, corn syrup, and a host of other stuff along those lines is all made from GM crops.
As for Europe, let them lead the fight against GM crops. More shortages over there means more $$$ for my crops when they have a shortage & start getting hungry. I used to raise certified NON-GM corn for a few years, because the non-GM people woud give a premium for it. Not anymore, so I plant what gives me the best returns, which is a mixture of about 2/3 non GM, and 1/3 GM on my 'problem' areas.
I think the non-GM movement in the US is pretty much dead, I think those still against GM food has joined the 'all organic' crowd. Funny thing, though, the GM stuff has less bugs in it, and with NO commercial pesticides added.
