ATVplumber nice pics are helmets not mandatory in BC .How many km on the moose.
there is only 400 km on it. as for helmet law i think there probably is one but in such a rural setting theres no enforcement. bear in mind the average speed on this trip according to my gps was 11kmh. it was a nice slow trip to enjoy the views. there were no jetting troubles because of altitude. the 4 strokes dont seem to be sensative to that like the 2 strokes are!

I never had much problems until about 2500 km then it`s all down hill from there .
I see you had a can am along. I'd keep it handy after you get 2500km on the moose.

Beeptster, what do you think of this fram filter.
Part Number PH3614

Product Type Full-Flow Lube Spin-on

Anti-Drain Valve YES
Product Height 3.34"
Product I.D. 3/4-16 Th'd
Product O.D. 2.98"
Relief Valve Setting PSI 12

I noticed as I was researching the PH4967 that the relieve valve setting is 14 PSI. I also noticed that it was used on a lot of lawn and garden type motors such as briggs and stratton riding mowers.

So I decided to look at the one I have on my lawn tractors. Mine is actually a penzoil PZ-21, but it matches the specs of the PH3614. And I have had great success with it.

My questions, and this is likely something we will never know unless we can find out more about the CF unit, but would the lower relieve valve pressure be better safe guard? I don't know how hard the oil pumps in these units push.

The other nice thing is the other unit is just a bit taller. (PH4967 = 2.92" vs PH3614 = 3.34"). The taller length looks like it would fit nicely on the machine without affecting the footrest space. And taller equals more oil capacity which equals better oil cooling.

What do you think?

Bill

Bill The oil pressure on the cf moto engine is listed as130 Kpa-170Kpa@3000rpm, which is 18.85-24.65 PSI. The ph3614 filter is a)bit bigger outside diameter which may affect the seal area. (not sure, you'd have try it & see) The 2 PSI difference in the relief valve is not an issue in my opinion. You are right about bigger filter & more oil capacity (better cooling)Almost all the Kawasaki mules use the PH-4967 & their engines are similar to ours. I've got over 200K on my PH-4967 with no problems. Let me know if you try the PH-3614, how it performs for you. By the way I have a CF Moto repair manual. They can be found by searching around the forums.

I picked up a 3614. I'll give it a shot and let you know. If it doesn't fit the ATV, it will fit one my tractors anyway, so will not a complete loss. And if it is a no go, then I like the 4967 as a back up. CT is just 10 mins up the road from me.

Beepster, you using synthetic of dino oil?

Will keep you posted.

Bill

M.T.Livewell (Bill),

Yea, that trip was a blast and no I didn't go play in the puddle; that's Russ' job, he has more money then I do and likes to break the 660 Griz or at least try. Did a little trip (60 miles) a week later (check the same site), found a play area that was trick city. Patti has a hard head, she doesn't even need that helmet. Her search for the ultamate Bloody Mary continues... We're starting to plan a trip to the Black Hill of SD, that sounds like a fun spot.

I'm reading a lot about oil filters here; how many oil changes do you do a year? I've got 300 miles on mine and it's time (first one) but I don't expect to change oil more then maybe once every 500 to 700 miles (dealer suggestion). Is it worth all the fuss for 20 or 30 bucks a year to hunt down a new filter? I'm not knocking it, I'd use a cheaper one if it was a direct replacement but I don't think I'll mess with a $5K machine for a double-saw buck.

Keep warm and safe, winter's here in Wisconsin.

Took the Motobishi Chase 500 out on LaRose Forest Saturday. I was with my buddy on his Polaris 500. We ran into a section of trail that was completely submerged. Didn't realize how deep it was till I found myself up to my headlights. Yellow-confused Gladly, the machine kept on trucking through, nearly floating in some cases.

The rest of the day was pretty tame so we decided to end the day back where we started. Pic of my buddy breaking the ice, then me on the way back in the afternoon. (note, I only had to pull him with the winch once icon_pelvic_thrust2 )

The machine ran fantastic. Now it is time to clean her up and change the oil (since spending so much time under water). Getting her ready for ice fishing season.

Bill

I have had it bured over the back bumper in 2 wheel drive, I love my 27" itp's xtr's. How many miles do you have on that bike?

Great pics Bill, love to see others in action. I've only got a couple of hundred on the CF'er but so far it has done all I've expected or wanted. No ice yet here in Wisconsin but it's coming.

Ride safe, stay warm, and keep your stick on the ice.
