I'm guessing you had to replace the U-joints on your machine as well? Thanks for the tip!

Took some south africans on a trip up Sabola mountian in northern BC. It was a wonderfull trip and spent the weekend in the snowmobile club's cabin. The Moose has given me no troubles what so ever. I sure appreciate the tips you guys give especially the part #'s. Thanks alot. Garry.

After some research, I finally found an aftermarket oil filter that fits & works on my ezee tracker. The CF Moto CF-188-011300 oil filter that came off my 500 CC engine is not a metric thread unit, but uses an imperial 3/4-16 thread. The metric thread filter with 20x4.5 thread is slightly larger & different thread pitch, & thats why it won't stay on. I installed a Fram PH4967 oil filter on my A.T.V. & ran it for almost 100k's & 3.5 Hrs. It does not leak, has'nt come loose, and my engine does not make any strange noises. I checked an original eqpmt.filter at my dealers & it is stamped 3/4 on the thread boss.I also measured the threads with a thread guage & confirmed my suspicions. My dealers price on an original filter is $25.07 + Tax. Fram PH 4967 filter at Walmart was 6.00. I bought some cheap beer with the money I saved & am enjoying it. Hope this helps others. P/S most Kawasaki mules use this filter.

ATVplumber - That's an awesome looking trip you had with the S.A. group. Great pics, thanks for the share on them. Keep sharing, it gives all of us inspiration to do a little more.

Beepster keep us posted on the fram filter. I am a little nervous about trying a new filter as I have blown off 2 and been left stranded. But I really would like a cheaper more convenient alternative.
Great pics plumber. Do the change in elevation give you any issues?(being carburated)

Bill the 6017a & 6018 filters that you tried are both 20M.M.x 1.5 metric filters. The CF Moto original filter has a 3/4x 16 imperial thread, which is slightly smaller & courser thread than the metric one. if you try a Ph 4967, you will see that it tightens up nicely & wont come off unless you unscrew it. I have put almost 100 K on mine & everything is fine. If thats not enuff I'll let you know when I reach 200K, next weekend.

Since this is a general area and not a specific thread I'll post this here. I've posted some pics of our last trip to Northern WI at cf500atv.shutterfly.com/ . This is still in the Bayfield County area and it was a great trip and we had a blast.
A tip of the cap to all the posters here, I really enjoy reading about what other's are experiencing and viewing their pics. I've got 125 miles on the bike and will change fluids after this weekend's ride; a little trip on the Cattail State trail out of Amery, WI.
Happy trails to all

Great pictures Kevin. Beautiful area.
Patti looks like she enjoyed herself. I'm guessing there may be another ATV purchase in your future ... and maybe a full face helmet for her too.
I see a fella named Russ through a big mud hole. Did you give it a try on the CF?

| I sear somewhere that moose was coming out with new more flexible ones.I have the same problem with mine, they are real brittle in cold weather.Has anyone had trouble with the front break pads wearing the top end of the inside pad and the lower end of the outside one. I keep changing mine from left side to right to get longer life from a set of pads. |
Hey I just had a good look at my machine last night and noticed my pads were wearing just like you said. I wouldn't have even noticed but I remembered to check them after reading your post. Other than that, I just had to change a grease nipple on the rear A-arms cuz 1 got destroyed by a rock or something and drilled a small hole at the end of each crack in my footboards to prevent the cracks from spreading. Everything else was rock solid.

If anyone replaces their u joints with the napa ones you may half to use the original snap rings . The ones that comes with the new ones are thicker and make the joint tighter than i thought it should bee. I replaced the first one at 3500 km and the other three at 5400 km.

Guys,
how do we go about getting a section for cfmoto powered machines? I've tried to send e-mail to one of the mods, but no results. It's really hard going thru all the messages under one name....it sure would be easier to find problems similar to your own if they are listed like in the others areas of the forum....just my 2 cents....
John
