I am receiving this update now along with the carb update. I am waiting for the dealership to call me back so I can pick up my machine. It took about a week for them to get the kit to perform the update so the wait wasn't too long..

I have had both updates done and yes there was a difference. The breather tube is actually quite easy to do. The carb update was done a month ago and yes big difference. My dealer had no idea at first that this was even a tsb so that tells me not all dealers get up to date info. I did not see the slit in the hose the only difference i saw was the new tube with heat wrap on it.

Hey dj3cb, did you have the carb update completed on your 02 700??
I thought I read that the new jets in the Update were the same as the original jets in the 02, only the spring was different. As such Polaris was not covering/recommending rejetting the 02s. Just curious, I bought the parts before I discovered this now might return them. My 02 is cold blooded but always starts.
If you did get the update, did it help? What number jet did they pull out and replace?? Thanks

The machine I received needed to get the update; if you supply them with your machine # and VIN they can look it up on the computer through Polaris.. I am not positive as to what they adjusted but I did notice a difference in performance; my only issue now is that the idle adjuster screw has popped out of my carb and I now need to re-tap the carb to get a different screw in there.. the threads somehow ended up getting stripped in the carb itself..

Just wanted to say the dealer was nice enough to let me have the new updated hose to install for myself. I didnt want the hassle of transporting wheeler to the dealer, and waiting for a ten minute job. Although two weeks later, I had them do the carb update.... Its just good to know people are staying aware of the mechanical aspects of their machines and like to stay on top of things.

Is the carb update a warranty issue, do they have a TSB# for it?
I'm taking mine in for the hose issue, but it does'nt want to run very good when its the least bit chilly out. Any help, thanks

I have a 2004 600. After reading this and playing with my machine, I decide to call my dealer today. Turns out that Polaris will replace the hose with a kit under warranty.
thanks for the info

I am currently rebuilding my 02 700 for the second time....rod bearing again. Did not see anything that caused it the first time but the oil pick up was plugged the second time. According to this post....I think that i now know why it was plugged. Does anyone know if I can still get the update and what exactly is it?
Thanks

The problem with this slit thing that comes to mind is then water and dust will build up and get in NO? If its breathing then stuff gets in in my books and that doesn't sound good.

Viper72SM, Welcome to the ATVFrontier.
The metal water pump cover can be purchased from a Polaris dealer. The altitude that you are riding could be a factor in wether or not you need to enrichen your carb settings. Maybe you should allow some time before jumping into the TSB. If the quad is starting fine and running good then perhaps you don't need the carb changes. You can check for the vented breather hose. The new style can be purchesed from the dealer.

As a prior owner of a 04 sp600 I would re jet it and get a dial-a-jet kit. I did and it improved considerably. Check your wheel bearing and ball joints, I had to do mine once (because I played in the mud way too much.)
welcome and enjoy.
