The wait is over for the sports market to see what Can Am has unleashed with its sport offering for 2008.
Can Am meant for Bill to loose his Balance and for Gust to be left in the Dust with this bike.
The Can Am Tremor is a sport quad built with several new features and several ingenious designs that make it all you could ever ask for in a company that many complained could not build a bike to compete because their sport quads were too heavy.
Power is smooth all the way through the power band with no range of power but haul tail mode from idle through the top of the RPM range. Excellent for hill climbers and woods riders.
Handling is excellent as is to be expected however I did notice that a few adjustments and the bike takes to being a well mannered woods racer.

Can Am came to the racing scene with several ingenious ideas such as the front A Arms are interchaneable from right to left. Front headlight removal is a snap to get into race trim. Adjustable front brake lever, rock guards built into the front wheel, wave rotors, hollow rear axle and more as I expect us to find out as we play with it more.
Access for programming is just a seat removal away. The Tremor features new software to program the bike as well as a new protocol. The new Software CADET is already familiar with some people around the sport scene and features an easy to run interface. Availability to the end user has not been found out at this time but seems this may be going to happen so people can custom map their machines for race trim.
Out of the box the bike will travel at 112 Kmh without breaking a sweat with a big boy rider (300 pounds) such as myself in the saddle.

I know words could never say much so here is some pics of a DEMO unit that is available at M&J Sales in Chapmanville WV.

DustinMinnesota,

Small world. I graduated from Chapmanville. All of my family is still there and I am only 100 miles away. Was there 2 weeks ago. Just don't come across many people from Chapmanville, much less someone that knows where it is. PM me back.

Does it come with that speedo or tach standard? Is there any chance you could weigh it full of fluids. It looks much better in those pics than in the canam website. Smile

the onboard display does both tach as well as speed. Also had hour meter and trip meters. Also the display does on board diagnostics to the best of my knowledge as I had batteries go dead in my MPI programming it and it stated Communications Failure. The display is nice and large as you can see and it also indicates on the lights below the bars fuel light, neutral, and diagnostic light in that order from left to right. Key switch is on the left side of the tank about where the fuel cap is and had key on with lights and key on just ignition with tail light.

It does look nice, but how well is the frame beefed up for abuse during racing? The frame looks different, but it still resembles my gade - and it's possible frame issues.

actualy the gauge of the metal used in the lower section of the frame is quit heavy. If I get a chance I will get some close up shots of the gauge.

OK got the bike out today and rode it some - All I can says is sheeeeesh. A friend of mine took his Suzuki 450 as well. We ran some fire roads and the thing really screams across them. Done a few trails in between roads and she climbs good. One thing I did find however is the instrumentation on this unit has enough features that anyone doing any form of racing or riding will not be left without knowing where or what they are doing. Another thing I did notice is that the programming software has a recording time in the history for speeds above 150+ Kmh HOLY SMOKES. So far the bike has performed flawlessly and runs like a champ.

PS - Suzuki did not have much for the bike - even changing riders the results were about 1.5 - 3 quads depending on wheel spin out of the hole. And his bike had a "cherry bomb" on it. The DS 450 gave it a run for the money and showed the Suzuki what it' tail lights looked like in every drag.

The more and more I look at it the more I like it. I just wish they would have put reverse in it, but I am still tempted to get one. Smile

so far real good it. Almost twenty hours and no issues - went through first service and everything seemed to be tight and raring to go. Two really cool items I like is the radiator filler neck is behind the fuel tank and you can look in a couple of seconds and see your fluid level. I am assuming this was done to keep down air in the system from high speed runs putting the filler at the top. The second is the clutch adjustment - remove the cover access on the left side adjust it till it touches the THROW OUT BEARING and turn the screw back 3/8s to 1/2 turn and that is all that is too it no guessing if you have it right or not. Another cool feature is the adjustable lever on the front brakes - five positions for those who like it close or far away. There was a lot of thought on this unit.
