Ok guys one more time. i am worried about the speed and acceleration on this quad (can-am). Im worried about im not going to be able to keep up with my buddies 2000 polaris 500ho. if you can please describe the power band on this quad for me. will it only keep up with the polaris 500 barely or can it beat it? If you can help me thanks. i also have loke at the 500ho v-twin can-am but out of my price range. looking to stick with this quad but want to know this information thanks.

i have ridden with a 500 ho a few times and i have no problem keepin up at all..he tries to lose me in the woods....but he can't...top speed..he might have a mph or two on ya...maybe. low end they are pretty close but the po po pulls a little bit ahead..but thne the outty cathes up quickly round 20 mph. we are always dead even or pretty close up to 40 mph..but thats all i've raced him up to.... i'll have to call him up this weekend and settle this once and for all..... also keep in mind.. i weigh 200lbs on a light day... hes around 140-150 soakin wet.... he has stock tires with aftermarket exhaust.... i have 26 in mst(little heavier) with my mods listed below..... it also depends alot on how both machines were broke in. i get edged out at the top end against an 06 stock outty 400...but i have prolly 60 lbs more weight on my machine compared to his... my other buddies. the other guys po po is the same year as mine... hope this helps once and for all...any more questions? o and i'll try to get back to you on the final drag race results

400s are actually a very nice quad - it surprised me when they came with a 500 considering the 400 was real competitve in that arena, but then when you set back and you look, I guess BRP is the AMD of quads if it is a 400 then it should be power rated for 500 like the 500 for the 650 etc. Most Rotax engines outperform their counterparts in critical areas such as torque and overall horsepower.

If all your worried about is beating a sp500, then buy the Outty 500 and be done with it.

The Rotax engine is also a very smooth running engine... way smoother than my Kodiak 450
