hancock a big issue with the 400 AT is oil level.

My local dealer told me that Honda sent them a bulletin telling them to add 8 extra oz's of oil when they service them.
3 qts 8 oz's is what it should take because it will starve the tranny for oil on steep climbs if the level is the tiniest bit low.

Sounds like the carb needs to be fully disassembled and cleaned.

thanx kodiak i took the bike out after the valves were set and no change maybe a little more responsive i think i have some of it figured i put the bike s wheels in a rut to put it under some load opening the throttle enough to move the tires 1 to3 inches a few times the idle would stumble a little but not to stall the stall happens when you open the throttle ffrom the weak idle then the bike dies i was able to repeat this several times so i am pretty shure this is the problem bad fuel circiut maybe.....thanks again any more advice please??????

I have a 2004 350 mauel shift rancher and when I go for long rides, it seems to spot oil....looks like it is coming from the back of the motor, maybe the crankcase...I have cleaned my air filter numerous times, but still happens...any idea?

hi. my name is Brandon, and I too own a rancher 350. I aquired it last week and haven't had a chance to ride it yet due to a brake problem outlined in my very first post.

New to the site! Just got a 09 Rancher ES for my B-day. I have put about 60 miles on it so far and I love it! I added a full set of Ricochet skid plates and put a rack bag on the back. I will be looking at some tires shortly.

I'm wondering if anyone out there in "Rancher" land can match my wife & I's riding with our Honda's? We bought our 2000 4X4 ES Rancher's in Jan. 00, since then we have logged over 23K on the Odometers. We've bought six sets of tires for each machine. They have never give us any trouble whatsoever. The MPG can't be beat. We've rode B.C., Yukon, Ab, Wy, Id, Mt, Co, Nv, Or. & Mi. Being retired has enabled us to ride a great more than the everage ATV owner/rider. We had our racks Line X coated when new, I highly endorse the coating. Our winches are plugged into a reciever in the front so we can add many different "things" into the same reciever mount. Our next trip will be from Elk River Idaho To Montana, This will be a 12 day trip. Tripping as I call it, is a great time on ATV's.
