Cool good job.I was looking at them at Walmart but I was wondering how they'd hold up in the rain and snow.

I think it will be alright for moisture, its a mechanical guage and the only electrical is the bulb.

GYPSY400,
Excellent job. Many thanks for sharing your idea with others. It is appreciated.
Your install reminds me of the future upgrade we've been told to do to our Tow Vehicle. Due to towing a large trailer, it was recommeneded I install a Tranny Temp Guage. Install an inline sensor, single wire to a Gauge and mount the guage on the dash. The temp guage of your install gave me a few good ideas of the future upgrade to our Tow Vehicle.
Thanks for sharing your upgrade knowledge with others. It is appreciated.

Spike.. a tranny temp guage is a good idea for a tow wagon, but it don't mean squat if you don't have a decent tranny cooler.

We do have a tranny cooler in our TV. The largest one that can fit. Folks who tow suggested a tranny temp guage is a good "proactive monitoring" tool. When it comes to over heating, many call the dummy lights "oh shoot - its too late" light. When the light comes on, damage is most often already done. A temp guage allows someone to monitor its temp "climb". If it's needle is going up too fast, they simply slow down or pull over and let things cool down. I'm sure the same holds true for your new temp guage. An excellent proactive tool to monitor what things are really doing "under the hood" (sort of speaking).

Good to hear you have a good cooler... But I miight recommend that if you use the vehicle in winter, not towing, that you reconnect the stock cooler in the rad (some people only tow heavy in the summer - RV's etc.) because the aftermarket cooler will make the tranny run cold in the winter and this is almost as bad as running too hot... Thats why stock coolers are in the rad, so the tranny heats up with the engine.
I think every liquid cooled ATV should have a temp guage.. its amazing how hot these things run... I'm averaging about 200*F cruising on the ice when its 7-10*C out. Fan kicks on at 208 F and shuts down at just below 200F.. I also installed a fan override to bring the temp down further. I figure if the light comes on the temp would be over 215*F
