#1: Belt Reset Early Model 2003 Prairie 650 Author: SWBF750, Location: NMPosted: Sat Nov 01, 2008 11:26 pm ---- The Early model year of the Prairie 650 is not the same for a belt lite reset compared to the later 03 Prairie 650 Model.
Procedure only for the Early 2003 Yr Model - Prairie 650 Vtwin
Turn ign Off.
The Intake CVT boot needs removing to get to the connectors.
Disconnect the belt failure switch at the 2-pin connector above the CVT cover (follow the wires from the Black Retangular box on the CVT Cover to locate this 2-pin connector).
Disconnect both sets of the 5 pin connectors above the CVT cover, 1 is Black, 1 is gray.
Connect these connectors to the opposite pairs, grey to black, black to gray.
Turn the Ign "ON"
Observe the belt Lamp, it shouild flash at a 0.4 second interval for a few seconds then start to flash slower. Let lamp to flash for at least 7 seconds.
After 7 seconds, turn ign "Off".
Reconnect all the connectors to their proper locations.
Reconnect the 2-pin connector.
Turn "on" the ign switch to confirm the Belt lite is off, reinstall the intake boot to the CVT cover.
