Sylvain, Whilst we don't get a lot of snow down here, I've had a lot to do with tracked machines.
Effectively the rolling resistance is a lot higher with tracks than with tyres. With tracks, the driving load can be easily compared to driving uphill all the time while towing with tyres. In other words, a lot of effort is required.
The auxilary cooling fan is for the motor, not the cvt.
At 70km/h, the airflow would be helping the motor stay cool enough, despite the load. Also at 70km/h, that is really hauling on tracks.
Nearly all the warning lights and sensors relate to the engine, not the transmission. Burnt fingers may be a good indication that the CVT is getting too hot.
Short term, I'd suggest that cruising at slower speeds might be the easy answer.
PM Gunny. By his vids and posts, he knows a bit about tracking.
The ATV's in the Dakar and our Rally have had various modifications to combat heat related CVT problems.
