Get your self a MXU cdi box from a 2007 - 08 model that will take care of your issue.

I've tried the MXU CDI trick as well. Not enough gain to warrant the cost. I've done a fair amount of research on this one. The only thing I've found is MSD. They make a programable CDI for ATV's. This is not a plug and play unit. It will involve a fair amount of trial and error.

There could maybe be something in your wire cutting idea? It might even be that simple. I'll have a look at a schematic later and see what were looking at. Never even thought of something so simple. I'll get back to you.

I did some looking at the schematic. It doesn't look like there is an easy fix. Sorry for getting your hopes up.

If its only top end speed, maybe some oversize tyres?
e.g. A 10% larger circumference will increase the top end by nearly that if you've plenty power. 77 + 7.7 = 84.7
A lot of pro's and cons with that but.................
ground clearance, cog, accelleration, getting ripped off by tyre salesman.
If you go that way, get real measurements first. Believe me when I say, all tyres are not the same dimensions. Smilie Colors1

Deon,
With fuel injection on it's way for most models and the carb versions becoming obsolite, I don't imagine there are going to be to many aftermarket companies stepping up to make a high rev box. This is the bad news that goes along with changing technology. I would say your best bet at this time would be to see if you can find a used Kinitech box, or check out the MSD. I contacted Kinitech and they stopped making the model for the MXU. They would not give me a reason? As far as I know they were the only ones I found. (I may have spelled the Kinitech wrong. I believe they are a German company???)

If I hear of anything I let you know.
