I was just browsing the web looking for different options for loading ATVs and came across this. Just thought I'd share it with you people. Here's the link, www.sltrib.com/justice...13559119#, The article is pasted below in case the link expires or something.

Farmington police have released the name of a man killed when an all-terrain vehicle fell off his pickup truck and crushed him last month.
Jeromy Pectol, 39, of Farmington, was loading ATVs onto a rack for a hunting trip on Sept. 22 when one of the machines slid off, police said. He was found by his teenage son.
Police called it "a terribly tragic accident."

Same thing happened to a guy out West last year. And his wife was watch'in him load the bike.
There was also a guy load'in his bike onto a trailer ... as he got onto the trailer he bumped the throttle ... shot him over the side & down into a ravine about 60 or 70 feet. He was lucky since it didn't kill him, but it sure busted him up a lot.
So yeah, a guy has to stay alert & be extra careful when loading or unloading his ride !!!

Heard about that on the radio, thats terrible. It's only about 130 miles from my home.
Another bad accident, in Salt Lake City: a woman opened the door to her car and a single action .22 pistol fell out of the car and fired when it hit the ground, killed her.

I was unloading my Brute Force from the back of my truck and hit the thump throttle with my thigh when I stood up. I actually unloaded the ATV without even touching the ramp, and almost went through my garage door backwards. Scared the *beep* out of me. I went and bought a trailer after than flight.

They say the most dangerous time on an ATV is loading / offloading. I've seen wheelies going up the ramp and taking out the back windows of trucks, spooky! One friend caught himself luckily but he almost went to unload out of the back of his truck and forgot to put the ramps up.

I saw a guy miss his ramps while loading. Folded the one he hit in half and bruised both knees. Hurt his forehead on the top half of the ramp as it folded over his quad. I know it wasn't nice but I had to chuckle while I watched that episode.

thats bad luck for sure.
I have been using my homemade wooden ramp since '84 (replaced a few rotten boards) with out incident there are 2 bolts sticking down that go into holes on the inside of the tailgate keep it from slipin off the gate. I always walk the bike up unless there is an embankment where I can drive in level. I use low range 4x4 you can crawl up slow as you like, as the bike goes up the ramp I step up on the bumper and into the truck. I made a thing out of some 2"x6" that the front wheels rest against to prevent poping out the back window, I have seen it done by others.
I had a ramp in my truck a few yrs back went fishing on the atv came back to load and discovered some ahole used my ramp and broke one of the side supports. I don't know if they took a spill but I bet it gave them a scare.
