I have recently repaired my broken hitch mount on my '08 avenger. I was hauling a trailer over soem rough terrain and it got hung up causing the fram cross member inside the tub to pull apart from itself. Has any one lese ran in to this problem. I spoke with Jason down at Allseasons and he informed me that they used to use square tubing for the cross memebers so they never ran into that problem. For some reason fo a few years they went to flat stock and rolled it into the square shape and tac welded it."Not a good idea" I fixed it by getting two grade 8 bolts about 4" long and runnign them through the whole fram section out to the hitch mount. lucky there were holes on the other side of the tube originaly for tool access. using the heavy bolts and some nylock nuts i pulled the frame back together and honestly I think it is stronger now than it was brand new. Just though i would give you guys a heads up this can happen and here is an easy cheap fix.

The same thing happened to me quite a few years ago.I repaired it and reenforced the whole cross member with angle iron(almost required standing on my head to weld it in a few places)and had no further issues. When I looked at my partners unit(same year, different model)I saw that it had a modification done to the crossmember which was pretty near identical to the modification I had done to mine.

It's amazing what a little redneck injinuity can do and then manufacturers end up dong the same darn thing. I havn't called Jason but he had a meeting with the big wigs from Canada and he was going to try and convince them to go back to the tubing instead of that rolled flat stock.

do you have any pics of what you did for the fix? Because as I was looking mine over I noticed 2 cracks on the frame so I just welded 1x1x1\8 angle across the back of the the frame and also welded the gaps where the frame rails intersected just 2 stiffen it up a little.

actually all I did was take the two top bolts out drilled a hole from the inner frame to the outer frame for a half in bolt and put a grade 8 bolt in long enough to g through the whole piece of square tubing and bolted it on with a washer and nylock grad8 8 nut. no more probems after tightening it up and sandwiching the two plates together. no welding needed in that tight area and chance heating and melting your plastic tub. I'll look for my picsbut yes I did take some.

I made sure I wouldn't melt the plastic by putting plenty of soaked towels around the area. Then when I was done welding an area I put a towel on it. Can't let it get to hot.
