Our tax payers dollars doing something good! Great work by the Calgary fella that took the freely available government Canada maps and converted them for use with Garmins.

Nice when you consider that the Garmin Topo Canada maps are not cheap. I'm gonna send him a few bucks for a case of beer for his work.

If you have problems with mapsource, it might not have updated the registry correctly. I downloaded the latest updater from ibycus and let it do a fresh install. This didn't update the registry correctly. To fix it, you can download and run this:

I was then able to see the maps in mapsource. I installed the latest mapsource by downloading the latest update, extracting it to a folder with <insert favourite zip tool here> and then ran MAIN.msi followed by setup.exe. Order is very important. The maps look great. Very cool stuff.

Picked this thread up on google, and I thought I'd drop in.

I've put version 2.1 up on the website.

This version has new roads in Ontario and Yukon, and street names in several provinces (Alberta, BC, Nova Scotia and Yukon)

Thanks Dale! We have a lot of Canadian members that use topo maps on their GPS' while ATV'ing so this will save them a bundle. I keep meaning to send you a Paypal donation from ATVF. Embarassed

i own a etrax venture hc and i am a member with a guad club. not very good with downloading files and such.I need topo maps downloaded, what would you charge to do this. i live in calgary and can drop off. This was an x mas gift and have not been able to use please reply.

If you want, bring your GPS with you to Caroline and I can load it up with all my local trail information (tracks, waypoints, routes, Quadsquad and selected Topographical maps) if it has the typical mini USB connector. If your GPS model accepts a optional mini/micro SD card and you have it installed, we can upload a whole lot more data.
