Some of you including me have had electrical problems with their brutes. I read this post, cleaned the bus bar and my problems are gone. Hopefully this helps for anyone with electrical problems.

I just got back from the dealership, and the service department gave me a copy of this, so I am posting it to help everyone out. It deals with the fan, overheat issues and other problems I have seen people post about.

KVF750 Connector Corrosion Creates Electrical Havoc

Do you have a KVF750 exhibiting strange electrical problems? There have been reports of some very strange electrical symptoms that can be difficult to diagnose.
Typical symptoms are listed below in the order from most common to the least common:

1. Fan does not activate and the engine overheats
2. Meter stays on and the battery goes dead
3. Fuse keeps blowing
4. Engine stalls when 4wd is engaged and does not restart, but it restarts in 2wd.
5. Engine starts without ignition key (when just green button is pressed).
6. Check belt light is flashing.

The cause for these symptoms can be often traced to corrosion forming inside one of the two white plastic 1"x1-1/4"x3/8" joint (BUS) connectors that are taped to the main wiring harness. There is one under the front fender between the front shock towers and another one under the rear fender near the fuel tank.
So far the problem has ocurred only on the rear connector. More specifically, the rear connector/harness is attached to the tube frame just to the right side of igniter/control unit area. If you pry open the cap of the connector, you may find greenish corrosion (electrolysis) formed inside between the bare metal contacts. The electrolysis occurs within the connector because there are positive and negative wire terminals joined together without any barrier to seperate them. On the rear connector the white wires are always on (+), the brown wires are ignition on (+) and the black/yellow wires are ground (-).
If your customers ride in deep water or somehow cause water intrusion into this connector, a special prevention is required because the problem could repeat. After cleaning up the corrosion or the main harness is replaced (because the connector itself is not available seperate), some dialectric grease should be applied inside the connecter and it should be well sealed to prevent further moisture intrusion. The ultimate repair is to remove all of the black/yellow ground wires, solder them together and seal them seperately from the connector.

I have done this already but it is nice to see it posted every now & then.
I'm using my front Wires to run my running lites ( the outer position lites are now Green). Those wires up front are the "Horn Wires", HOT when ever the "Key" is on.

Does this electrical problem apply to all Brutes? I am purchasing a 2006, is this sometihng I need to be conserned about or did Kawasaki fix it?

I am having this problem with an '07 650, and it's in the shop now getting fixed, so I imagine it's happening with the '06's will let all know how it goes after it's fixed, I asked the dealer to install a engine fan over-ride switch but they don't wanna because they say it will void warranty

great site and first post I spray for a living and when fields are wet we use quads. Pulling heavy loads 200gals+trailer with a 30foot boom,feet on handle bars because of engine heat. For the last 4years Kaw brute force has let me put my feet down. had a problem overheating on 1year old 750brute had to hot wire fan,took to dealer couldnt find a problem. Next field overheating problem,Well I trace pos cable from battery to rubber mounted connection close to fuse box, after a good cleaning muds flying again. go kaw go

I had to reset my belt light yesterday and saw this, there is a connector w/ a plastic sleeve on it taht actually appears to be installed so it can scoop water and it will sit @ the connector, I spent 20 minutes and put diaelectric grease on all my connectors including the ones under the seat it is preventive maintenance and very cheap protection

Hi it has been a while. I just picked up a 07 750 brute force is there still a limp home braker some where on my unit. It is 07 with only 300 km on it. I just serviced it this morning and going for a ride tomorrow.

the only electrical problem i have had with my 07 brute is the fan breaker is a pos. the terminals corroded off. of couse in the middle of the forest.i twisted the wires together for the weekend. then repaced it with a atc type breaaker. never had a problem again. i also had a fuse panel problem. changed the terminals in the fuse panel no more problem. other than that she has been bullet proof.
