maybe someone can add to the tricks and tips:

Seems to be slightly different than previous models, but almost the same:

o Turn off the ignition switch
o Remove the seat
o Disconnect both sets of 4 pin connectors, one is gray the other is black

you can see the two connectors in this pic

o Reconnect these 4 pin connectors to their opposite gray to black and black to gray connectors
o Turn on the ignition switch
o Observe the belt check indicator light, it should be flashing quickly.
o Disconnect the belt switch at the 2 pin connector above the torque converter cover

You can see the 2 pin connector in this picture:

o Observe the belt check indicator light, it should be flashing slowly.
o Let the light flash for at least five seconds, more than 5 seconds is okay.
o While observing the belt check indicator light, turn off the ignition switch
o Disconnect the mismatched 4 pin connectors and reconnect them normally, black to black, gray to gray.
o Connect the belt switch 2 pin connector.
o Turn on the ignition switch
o Confirm that no belt check indicator light is flashing

bomber, i'm not sure, i know the older 650's used a much different procedure, it didn't have those same connectors, does yours have them?

the older 650's had a plug that was on i believe the right side of the machine, but i'm not sure

if yours has those plugs, then since it is carb's, follow bruce's reset:

atvfrontier.com/Forums...32139.html

but if it doesn't, i can get you some info what others said on the 650

Should be the same for the (i) models since the under the seat relays, CDI & the other plugs are in the same location, the '08BF750i may be different b/c of the efi set-up.
The BF650 SRA/Prairie 650,700's SRA models will be different as the under the seat locations are located in a different area, along with some of the other relays. Even the procedure may differ as well.
I'll see what I can find & post the Belt reset for the SRA Models.
Bruce

This happened to me today. Luckily only 4 kms into the woods. I made it home in limp mode. I followed the instructions in the excellent post by Dave , but the light is still flashing and the bike still won't go out of limp.

A couple questions...
in limp mode I couldn't engage 4 x 4 mode. which I needed at one point, luckily the winch helped out.

I only have 340 kms and 30 hrs on the brand new bike, so is this right to happen so soon.?

I will say, I was stuck, not major, but had it in some heavy mud up to the floorboards. I used the yellow lever to get out, and it was shortly afterwards I couldn't go past 10 kph, and the belt light came on.

did you have a bad belt? did you figure out your problem? seems like you are still tripping the switch, which means that something is tripping it, the procedure is to clear it after you fix the problem

Yes, the belt was bad, it flat spotted, prob when I was backing out hard in 4 wheel drive and got hung up.

After taking it to the dealer, they reset the switch after the procedure, and so far so good. Unfortunately I had to pay 80 bucks for the belt and 75 labor to figure that out.

bomber, pick up a spare belt and carry it with you all the time and print out the procedure and put it in a ziplock bag with the belt, that way you will be ready to go if it happens again
