Just thought I would make this a sticky...I thought it was a good reference material.

Good info on CVT and the noises you can expect (courtesy of Kymco USA):

"In general a CVT makes some noise at specific times. Most of which you should never need to worry about. However, if the engine starts making a consistent ticking sound like a sewing machine that varies with the engine rpm, it could be time for a valve adjustment. If the engine makes a deep knocking sound that persists or increases after idle, you could have more serious problems. A CVT can make a deep rattling sound right when you first hit the accelerator. This noise is caused by the rollers in the variator and is a normal sound and should not be confused with other more persistent knocking sounds. On new units you may hear what sounds like rubber skidding against metal when you first accelerate. That's because the rubber belt is skidding on the metal variator and will likely do so until the belt is broken in. On older quads, you may hear a slapping sound or a chatter during acceleration or deceleration that could indicate a worn belt, torque driver spring or worn rollers. The main thing to keep in mind is to keep the quad maintained and to make any note of strange noises that correspond with a negative change in performance. "
