Provided by our very own hydnseek. Excellent coverage and no duplicate tracks so uses less GPS memory than some other files.
Get it here.

Um, Mount quirk is in the wrong spot on that map. Quirk should be where lookout 1 is |
Actually, it's bang on. You are thinking of quirk ridge perhaps? Not the same as Quirk Mountain.
For a real good reference, get the Bragg Creek and Sheep Valley Kananaskis Country map published by Gem Trke Publishing...sell them at most book stores...got mine at Chapters.
Shows lots of detail, including quirk mtn and quirk ridge. It's a great map.

Lookout 2 (Mount Barwell) is accessible by quad now? If the tracks lead to where I think it is, this used to be a fairly technical single track dirt bike only trail a few years ago with a branch off to what was lovingly known as the "cutline of doom". (Not indicated on this map) Only way out of that nasty bit of *beep* was via Three Point Creek to the south, but only if the rider & bike were still in one piece. Mebbe it's time I have a look up there again & possibly bring back some painful yet invigorating memories....
Hydnseek, did you actually make it to the Mt. Barwell lookout? I might be wrong but I thought this was the highest point in the park and only accessible by dirt bike, either from the west or east....

Rockrider-
Most of these tracks are not mine, I downloaded them a while back(I dont know where...) but wanted to share them, as it was simalar to another file that was on here a while back, without multiple overlayed tracks. I just added a few of my own that were not on there (like the Mclean hill loop) and sent it to Ronin to put up for everyone. I have not personally done the trail to the Mt. Barwell, so I do not know the condition of the trail.
Maybe a plan for a future venture for some of us......

| I am trying to put together as complete a database as possible for all GPS data for offroading areas in the Calgary area. If you have any GPS data you wish to submit, please do so to me at jalsen @ msn.com with file attached and description, this includes McLean Creek, Waiparous/Ghost areas, Bighorn, Castle, etc. Once I have all in place I will publish it here and other sites/clubs. Looking forward to getting your info. |

I downloaded it but don't know what to do with it.
I am very new to ATVs and GPS.
I would very much like to follow the trail to elbow falls next week.
i have a Colorado 400 gps, with topo maps and the quad squad maps downloaded to it.
Can someone point me to some instruction on how to use these waypoints
thanks
Ron

Either open the file in Mapsource and send the track to teh Colorado or alternatively, copy the entire GPX file to the unit.
Go to "others", the "tracks" and the list of tracks will be there. Open the one you want and set it to display on the map.
BTW....a full transparent Garmin trail map including that trail can be found here: www.calgarycachers.net...s/maps.htm
It is my project. I just found this site and will see if there are any tracks that I can use to make the map better. I still need to align the map with the new official Mclean map.

I am finally entering the technology of GPS tracks instead of relying on my memory.
I would like to download this GPS file, but now that Ronin is gone and the module is disabled I can not. Can someone email me the file if they have it? My email addresss should work in the email button below my post.

Hey Bruce do you not see the buttons under each person's post? (It tried to attach a screen shot of them, but alas without ronin's technical support yet another thing that doesn't work these days)
If you mouse over the email button, you should see the address in the lower left corner of your screen. Alternatively you could click on the button and it would open up "one" email application, although that might not be the one you prefer.
My email is toadlamond @ yahoo.com
